Here are a few of my faves: a super hero who battles bullies (Timmy Tompkins); a goose who travels the world (Lucy’s First Flight); a lazy cat who takes a subway ride (Black Cat Big City) and a kid who saves herself and her dad from danger on her way home from school (The Adventures of Anna and Dad).
Storypanda’s platform for iPad (for ages 2-8) offers a collaborative way for families to “read, create and share interactive stories” together. How do they do this? It’s simple. You read each story with your child, then customize it to create your own. It’s totally fun and easy. Need more proof? Just watch the video of this crazy cat doing it!

This is Timmy Tompkins.
Like many kids, Timmy Tompkins loves super heroes, comic books, robots, and his mom.
Every night when Timmy goes to sleep he dreams of a world where he becomes a super hero, Super-Tim. Similar to Superman, Super-Tim can fly and use his super-strength to save damsels in distress and rescue kittens.
He is very brave. He battles robots, villains and school bullies. He does it all in proper super hero attire: a red cape, red boots and red underpants over ill-fitting tights.
So what makes Timmy Tompkins’ storybook app so unique and awesome?
Timmy Tompkins (Super-Tim) brings you into his world, then invites you to create your own story. Using the humorous illustrations and the text tool on each page, you and your child can create your own adventure for Timmy. For example, imagine why a damsel in distress might need your help?
Or teach that bad guy a lesson or two. He’ll know not to mess with you again!
Then, once you have completed your story, there is an in-app option to share your book through social media or email. Ping! Save, send, and post your awesome storybook app and get back to being a real super hero!
The Storypanda Platform for iPad
Each app is unique in characters, plot, setting and art style. Features include sound effects, customized text, and in certain stories, customized images and choose-your-own adventure options. Storypanda offers two ways to download their apps: individually on the App Store, or from the Storypanda Book App for iPad.
